Hey fishmaine, enlighten me. They only have to treat the water and then you say no treatment plant? You are contradicting yourself. And tell me, how do they get the water to homes and businesses? Do they beam it there just like in Star Trek? Seems to me that getting the H2O to the customer might require infrastructure like pipes and pumping stations and what not. That equipment probably requires attention to keep working properly.

You people who can't figure out simple math crack me up. There are fixed (or even rising) costs that are being spread across a lower volume of water, which means each unit of water is going to cost more.report abuse

Believe it or not, it still costs money to maintain the system that delivers water to you. The system requires maintenance, and that means expenses for personnel, supplies, fuel, etc. With less revenue from conservation, the fixed costs are spread over fewer cubic feet (or however they measure water consumption).

Be glad you have a public water system. A good half of Mainers do not, and must supply their water with private wells. While you may think this is just ducky, consider we have to pay for the drinking water supply and wastewater treatment bond issues that you folks approve every year, yet not being on the system, we get no benefit whatsoever. And because many of us have well water that is not fit to drink, we have to buy bottled water at the supermarket and pay taxes on it to boot.

So go ahead and cry me a river that you have to pay $20/month for potable water from your tap. You've got it better than a lot of people.report abuse

Just leave the water running in public restrooms, hotels, restraunts. If we all work together, we can use more water & avoid the increase.report abuse

ggod luck going to their meeting! they are the masters of double speak! but if you do go be prepared ahead of time, one thing they hate is to be put on the spot with facts and pertinent info. they do not even have to do anything but treat the water, no storage tanks, no massive treatment plant because sebago is already so clean! remember they are a NON profit. they merely need to break even, but because of constant equipment upgrades, better than average compensation, etc.....they are always running behind!report abuse
