What are you all talking about? The wardens have no "special" powers. They go through the same academy training as all other law enforcement trainees go through. If they ask your permission to enter your house and you agree, no warrant is needed. The reason that they stop ATV, snowmobilers etc. is the same reason that the sheriff deputy and the state trooper stop certain cars late at night. They are looking for those that are breaking the law, whether it is poaching, trespassing or DWI. I would think that the law abiding folks would welcome the fact that these men and women are trying to get these no-gooders off the roads and trails. They certainly aren't helping the reputation of outdoorsmen and women. Know your rights, cooperate when reasonably asked and show a little appreciation for the job that these guys do.report abusedan

YES!!! It is about time somebody tested this dangerous practice that Game Wardens have special authority. The coneheads I work with have believed for years that GW's did not need search warrants to enter a house looking for deer meat and I have debated endlessly over the topic. People just took it for granted and never questioned like lemmings.report abuseBill Cower

The Game Warden don't stop unless you have done something or something is wrong with your 4-wheeler, like maybe the headlight was off.I feel sorry for the low life. Many 4-wheeler are trying to make things better. POsted my land because of one person.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment. Register or log in.
