They're holding this guy for $500 cash bail. The charges against him are relatively minor. If he was looking at a mandatory additional 6 month jail term for evasion, he might not have chosen to stupidly risk his life running through the woods in inappropriate clothing to avoid arrest.
Also, look at the costs to the public. How many man hours and other resources were used in chasing this dim bulb down? Who foots the hospital bill?
It would be a pretty easy piece of legislation - run from a cop, go to jail.report abuse

This begs the question, why is there no law against evading a police officer in Maine?
