Had the city of Portland called a parking ban last night, lasting until noon today, they would have cleared the roads and we could pay to have our plowing done once. And, the streets would be clear.
Because my councilor is not listed in the phone book, I had to call a FORMER councilor to get his phone number. He doesn't answer his cell phone.
Why, one might ask, would one buy real estate in Portland? Just another reason why so many people are moving out of the city.report abuse

Out of frustration, I am resorting to this venue for posting my plea for Portland to fix its lousy snow services--and for warning potential home buyers in Portland to buy elsewhere. My friends in South Portland, on a tiny side street, had their road cleaned by 7 am--as usual. I had to call Portland Public Works at 9:30--no chance of getting to church or visiting my sick cousin this morning. Finally at 10:15 they sent a small truck down the street. But no serious plowing, and I will not be able to get back up my driveway. They will call a parking ban tonight, and I will have to pay, once again, $100 to get my driveway plowed today, and the end of the driveway cleared again at 7 am tomorrow. My plow guy brought his wife to work at the Press Herald at 7 am this morning--and nothing down there was plowed. The city says they were "plowing all night". Were they doing laps up and down Congress Street?
