How many times a day do you hear the phrase on TV: Ask your doctor if _ _ _ _ is right for you? Want to reduce medical costs, no more drug ads on TV. Quacks and snake oil salesmen abound just like in the old days but this snake oil may cause blindness, dizziness, death. Don't take it if your breathing, or pregnant or plan to keep breathing.report abuse

Ben,

A funny line, but you are not going to get the messsage until you own property and feel it in the pocketbook. The more people you have on the dole (welfare), the more it cost you (taxpayer). It's simple math.report abuse

"He also repeated his belief that Maine still has too much government for a state with a small population, with an administration for every 1,500 people."

Is he talking about employees or the number of state house representatives we have? I'm pretty sure he is not talking about the number he has on his huge staff... Why should state reps and legislators get 100% of health insurance paid when a part time state employee's gets pro-rated? I do not get that at all. When did a representatives job become fulltime?

I also agree that the Welfare system in Maine is way out of control. I understand if someone needs help with heat and medical expenses, but come on now.. there are people on welfare that pay nothing into the system in their lifetime, and they just keep getting benefits for having baby after baby just so they can stay on welfare..how pathetic.

I wonder though how many illegal aliens are still getting welfare benefits in our state.. oh and then they tell their families to come to Maine because they can get benefits too.. I'm not prejudice in any way, dont get me wrong... Our state welfare system is pretty stupid to continue to give out benefits to individuals who dont even deserve them or fraud the state, then you have some that "really" need help who dont qualify.. I just dont get it... State employees are not to blame for the money problems people...the people we vote into office are..report abuse
