I did chuckle when the news team said that this chief would be making history (and showed his picture), because I knew that would be followed by the announcement that he was African American... I can't wait for the day that a person's ethnicity isn't news...I want to say Welcome Chief Craig--Maine is a wonderful place to live and I know you will be a great asset to the great city of Portland!report abuseRazorback

Steve L.- Read your own post and see how stupid it sounds! If there were any qualified people on the Portland PD, they may had been considered. First you had one from Phila. now one from LA. This one will more than likely get the same treatment that the unfriendly people of Maine treat all others from away! I can hardly wait until we finally finish moving our company back to the "USA". Gulf Shrimp instead of bait shrimp. Fish coated in corn meal instead of glue called batter!!! A lot of you Mainers deserve even thing that your government dreams up in Augusta. See y'all after June down on the Gulf Coast.report abuseMark Usinger

I hope that Mr. Craig is serious about quality of life issues and will enforce Portland's loud motorcycle ordinance as well as the state's boom car law.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment. Register or log in.
